Summer Counseling Programs

Counseling Services is offering summer programs in both group and individual counseling, beginning in July 2021. The programs are run by Hunterdon Central’s Student Assistance Counselors and will address both student wellness and the need for continued mental health support.



Group Counseling Programs:


Students who are interested in attending group sessions should complete and submit:this form. You'll need to login using your student's Hunterdon Central email address.

Summer Group Sign-up For Summer 2021.

An email providing details about arrival and dismissal procedures will be sent to all interested students once a group has been filled. It is the responsibility of the family to provide transportation to and from the group.

Below is a list of groups that are being offered this summer.


FRESHMAN TRANSITION GROUP

Open to incoming 9th grade students

Meets on Mondays, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
July 12 & July 19
July 26 & August 2
August 9 & August 16

Each group will be 2 sessions long, with up to 15 students per group.

This group will focus on helping 9th grade students transition to high school, develop academic and social/emotional strategies, and aid in creating a familiarity with the high school campus. It will also provide information and tips to help students engage in activities within the Hunterdon Central community.

WELCOME BACK
Re-acclimation after COIVD-19

Meets on Tuesdays, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
July 13 & July 20
July 27 & August 3
August 10 & August 17

Each group will be 2 sessions long, with up to 15 students per group

This group will focus on helping students develop academic and social emotional strategies to help transition back into the school building.

BE WELL
Meets on Thursdays, 8:30 AM -10:30 AM
July 15, July 22, July 29
Each group is a single session.

Meets on Wednesdays, 8:30 AM -10:30 AM
August 4, August 11, August 18
Each group is a single session.

Each group focuses on a specific topic. Up to 20 students per group.

CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS CHANGE YOUR MIND
Social emotional learning/cognitive behavioral skill building.

Meets on Wednesdays, 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM
July 14, July 21, & July 28

Meets on Thursdays, 8:30 AM -10:30 AM
August 5, August 12, & August 19

This is a 3 week long group, with 10-12 students per group.


THE BLUES PROGRAM

Meets on Thursdays, 11:15 AM - 12:45 PM
July 15, July 22, July 29, August5, August 12, & August 19 This group is 6 weeks long.

This school-based group intervention aims to reduce negative cognition and increase engagement in pleasant activities, in an effort to prevent the onset and persistence of depression in at-risk high school students.


INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING:

Student Assistance Counselors will be available this summer to provide individual supportive counseling to any student in need, beginning July 12, 2021. Students may sign up for as many appointments as needed throughout the summer.

Please note that appointment times after 1:00 PM will be virtual. Virtual counseling appointments will be available from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
