Strategic Planning 2026

Hunterdon Central will be conducting a new strategic planning process, starting in the Spring 2026, and we hope our stakeholders, i.e. students, staff, parents, Board and community members, will join us to set goals for the next five years. The Board of Education has contracted with the New Jersey School Boards Association to facilitate the process - click here for their introductory presentation. As we progess through the process and following each meeting, we will post updates on this page.

What is Strategic Planning?
It is creating an organization-wide mission…a vision…that directs, motivates and inspires all members of the educational community to work together for the common good. The Strategic Planning committee will be a focused group of students, staff, parents/guardians, community members and leaders. We will work together in both small and large groups to create a shared vision for the district, identify both the strengths of the school district (those special attributes that we can build on as we move into the future) and the critical issues that we will face (the challenges that the district must be prepared for in the future), and finally, draft goals for the next five years.

We hope you can join us for one, two or all three Strategic Planning meetings. This is an exciting opportunity to have students, staff, parents, community members and leaders assist in shaping the future of the Hunterdon Central Regional High School District.Planning Meeting Dates:

Notes from Planning Sessions

Notes and any handouts from each of the three strategic planning sessions will be posted below so attendees and the public can stay updated on the progress.

Planning Session #1 - February 17, 2026

This first planning session, which included 83 attendees, began with a review of where Hunterdon Central Regional High School is currently and then attendees discussed the strengths and challenges of the high school. To kick off the session, Hunterdon Central Superintendent, Mrs. Jessica Cangelosi-Hade, provided a state of the school presentation. Following the state of the school overview, attendees were asked to identify and list what they felt as a consensus were the top 10 strengths of Hunterdon Central and top 10 challenges that could be addressed. Notes and outcomes from the first session are posted here.

Planning Session #2 - March 11, 2026

During the second planning session, 63 attendees went through the "portrait of a learner" activity with each small group brainstorming to identify the core skills that they believe should be the hallmark of every student who walks across the graduation stage and would prepare them for the future of their choosing. The session concluded with identifying common themes across the small group read-outs and then narrowing them down into buckets or areas for goals. The four goal areas identified were: Student Learning Experience, Future-Ready, Health & Wellness, and Engagement. These goal areas will then lead into the last session on April 14th to draft specific goals and objectives for the next 3-5 years. Notes and outcomes from the second session are posted here.
