Department Description:

Experience and education in a variety of life skills is an essential component of a balanced life. It is the role of the Family & Consumer Science Department to offer courses that provide this experience and education, across a spectrum of family and consumer areas, in a manner that is relevant to every student at Hunterdon Central.

In order to be effective and meaningful, it is essential that family and consumer education be based on research and technology, as well as being relevant to the home and community life of students.

At Hunterdon Central, practical laboratory experiences are incorporated into all courses. Critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, career planning, and workplace readiness skills are also integral parts of each course.

Courses are open to all students; every effort is made to provide education in each area of family and consumer living.
